The Etchingham Club

Children’s Policy
We welcome families and children at all times of the day.
Keeping children safe is extremely important to us and is a shared responsibility – all members, guests and the committee are expected to follow these rules:
1. Supervision
Children under 16 must be closely supervised by a responsible adult at all times.
2. Age restrictions
Challenge 25 applies – alcohol will not be served to anyone under 18.
3. Curfew
Children under 16 must be inside the club by 9pm. Parents/guardians are responsible for this.
4. Conduct
No footballs, rugby balls or other sports balls inside or outside. No running, shouting, fighting or behaviour that's a nuisance or safety risk.
5. Areas
-
Child-friendly: main lounge, pool table area, front terrace until 9pm
-
Off-limits: front terrace after 9pm, snooker table and all snooker equipment, the fenced garden (left of building), back alley/fire escape, cellar, storage and staff areas
-
Committee can designate further adult-only areas anytime
6. Safeguarding
Children should not stay close to the bar during service. Adults must shield children from excessive drinking or inappropriate behaviour. If you have any safeguarding concerns, please tell the committee, bar staff or duty staff immediately; authorities will be contacted if serious.
7. Responsibilities
Everyone is expected to know and follow this policy – not knowing it isn't an excuse.
-
Committee: communicate the policy, review annually, handle breaches fairly
-
Bar staff: apply Challenge 25, flag unsupervised children or breaches to committee
